- The border crossing in Houlton was originally located along US Route 2. In 1985, the port of entry was relocated at the northern end of Interstate 95 and the old stations were closed. Travelers can still visit the abandoned US border station in Houlton along with a former Army airport where WWII German POWs were kept.
