The Richford – East Pinnacle border crossing is a small, quiet port that connects the western side of Richford, Vermont to the town of East Pinnacle, Quebec. This crossing is one of the slowest in Vermont, carrying no more than 20 vehicles a day during summer months. During winter, the number of cars is reduced to three.
Border inspection services were first established at this crossing in 1971 when the US built its border station here. The CBSA built its station in 1982. Due to the really low volume of vehicles that pass through this port, the CBSA decided to reduce its hours in 2011.
Hours of Operations & Wait Times
The US port of entry is open to all vehicles 24/7. The Canadian port of entry, on the other hand, is open from 8 am to 4 pm. Passenger vehicles can pass through seven days a week while commercial vehicles are limited to weekdays only, except on holidays. Due to the small number of vehicles crossing the border at this port of entry, delays rarely occur. Travelers can get the current wait times at this port by downloading the CanBorder app and the CBP Border Wait Times app (Google Play or iTunes).
Weather, Traffic & Road Conditions
Traffic is incredibly light at the Richford – East Pinnacle border crossing with 3 to 20 vehicles passing through each day. The last kilometer of Richford Road before it reaches the boundary line, however, is filled with potholes and cracks which can slow down vehicles traveling on the road. Travelers who want to find out the status of the roads in Vermont can check the New England 511 website. They can also follow the Twitter account @511VT to get the traffic and road conditions reports.
The province of Quebec also provides similar information to travelers.
