Seaway Bridge Border Crossing

Seaway Bridge

Seaway Bridge

The Seaway Bridge border crossing is an international bridge that connects Rooseveltown, New York; Cornwall, Ontario; and the Akwesasne settlement on Cornwall Island. The Seaway International Bridge, which was previously called the Cornwall-Massena International Bridge, is now called the Three Nations Crossing in honor of the Akwesasne Mohawks, a third nation of First Nation people.
The Three Nations Bridge is one of the busiest land ports between New York and Canada. More than 120,000 commercial vehicles and 2,300,000 passenger vehicles use this bridge every year.

The Seaway International Bridge is actually made up of two bridges – the North Channel Bridge and the South Channel Bridge. The North Channel Bridge links the city of Cornwall, Ontario to Cornwall Island while the South Channel Bridge connects the US to the Canadian island. It should be noted that the Canadians customs facility is currently located in the city of Cornwall which means travelers who wish to visit Cornwall island will need to go all the way to the other end of the North Channel Bridge to report for inspection before heading back to the island. Omitting to do this can lead to a $1,000 fine.

Similar to some of the international bridges in New York, the Seaway International Bridge charges a toll. Current rates can be found here. Payments can be made through cash or a Seaway Transit/Corporate Card. Travelers who use the cards will be able to avail of a discount on the toll rate.
