The Coburn Gore – Woburn border crossing is one of only two land ports of entry between Maine and Quebec that operate 24/7. It connects the small towns of Coburn Gore, Maine and Woburn, Quebec. This remote border crossing is actually the last of the 24 official land ports of entry in the state of Maine before the US-Canada border passes through the highlands and meets the state line of New Hampshire. Due to its remote location as well as the low population on both sides of the border, the Coburn Gore ME port is one of the least busiest along the US-Canada border.
The Coburn Gore border station was built in 1931 as part of the first phase of the US government’s program to increase border security due to rampant smuggling during the Prohibition period. Opening it also meant creating jobs for people during the Great Depression. Today, the Coburn Gore station is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Woburn station, on the other hand, wasn’t established by the Canadian government until 1950.

Vehicles can use the Coburn Gore Station to enter the US 24/7. Passenger vehicles entering Canada can also use this port of entry anytime. Commercial vehicles, however, can only enter Canada from this location on weekdays from 8 am to 5 pm, except on holidays.
